Reiki

I am a certified Reiki Master. Reiki sessions are available in addition to or in conjunction (when appropriate and per client request) with a psychotherapy session. The type of Reiki I utilize when combining Reiki and psychotherapy is defined as “Insight Reiki.” Insight Reiki involves aspects of Process Oriented Psychology. This modality integrates Jungian Psychology (the individual psyche and a person’s quest for wholeness), Somatic Psychology (how emotions and experiences are perceived and processed from within) and Transpersonal Psychology (spiritual aspects of the human experience). It is a combination of energy work interwoven within the mind/body experience that facilitates a new relationship/meaning with inwardly experiences and assists with growth, healing and change on a deeper level.

Traditional Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It’s based on the concept of life energy and it is done by laying on of hands (light touch) and/or hands hovering over specific areas of the body. A subtle energy flows from the hand of the practitioner into the client and it is this energy that creates the relaxation and healing effect. Traditional Reiki is a silent process in which the focus is specifically for the client to be receiving Reiki; with Insight Reiki, the client is receiving Reiki while also being an active participant in processing thoughts, images, feeling, qualities, etc. that come up. Feel free to contact me with any questions about combining Insight Reiki/psychotherapy or traditional Reiki sessions.
